I just tried both workshop download URLs on the CDP website, and had no difficulties in retrieving working archives using Mozilla FireFox.  What is the nature of your difficulty?

I also am unable to download the workshop links from the workshops tab on the webpage. The connection times out. Are these workshops still available?

This situation should be temporary, so please try again in a day or two.

However, if you are still unable to get them, I'll personally find a way to get both workshop archives to you.  (Please keep me apprised of your success!)

I tried the workshops again. Still isn't working. I'm getting this:

Object not found!

The requested URL was not found on this server. The link on the referring page seems to be wrong or outdated. Please inform the author of that page about the error.

If you think this is a server error, please contact the webmaster.

A couple days ago, I sent you a personal message (in this forum) with URLs you could use to download the workshops.  Did you receive it?

Hello there, first post. I'm also unable to download the workshop material, with the same error as described above. Are there alternate URLs to use?

lynx

I've sent you a private message with URLs to the workshop archives (located in my personal webspace).  Please let me know if you have any difficulty retrieving them!

What jbucks said, exactly. I'd be grateful for the URLs.

Thanks.

Done!  My hope is that these files will be moved to another (more reliable) location soon.

N.B.  The workshops are intended to be followed with either Sound Loom or Soundshaper.  But Soundshaper's UI has evolved a bit since the tutorial was put together, so you will probably have to hunt around a little in newer versions of the program to find some functions.  If someone else doesn't express interest in revising the Soundshaper part of these workshops, I may propose doing it myself . . .

Thanks for your help Lynx,

The download links are working for me today! I think I prefer to use the terminal to run functions in cdp but I'll check out the soundshaper and sound loom in the tutorials anyway.
Cheers!

Glad to see that the links are back up (at last)!

There's much to be said about working directly from the command-line, especially in a "proper" command/scripting environment under OS X or Linux (e.g., Tcl, KornShell, etc.).  However, both graphical environments offer more than just an "friendly" front-end to the CDP processes.  Depending on how you work, it might be worthwhile to try both long enough to feel out what they have to offer and whether their workflow might work for you.  In any case, SL and SS are able to run your command-line scripts, so using one of these programs doesn't mean it has to be an exclusive choice.
