General Board / Phase Vocoder frame 0
November 12, 2019, 07:42:33 PM
I'm posting this on behalf of Logan McBroom who is having some difficulty logging in at the moment ( weird server issues, that we SHALL resolve..)
Anyway, his question:

When transforming a signal via the phase vocoder, knowing
that instantaneous frequency is calculated via phase differences, how is
frequency calculated on frame 0?
I am having a hard time following the c
code for this.

General Board / OT - free BBC Sound FX
April 23, 2018, 07:46:16 AM
This might be of interest to some here

The BBC has launched the BBC Sound Effects Beta, a sound effects database with 16,016 classic BBC Archive sound effects and field recordings, from air raids to zebras. All of the effects are available in WAV format to download for use under the terms of the RemArc Licence. The Sound Effects are BBC copyright, but they may be used for personal, educational or research purposes, as detailed in the license.

General Board / Logging In Securely
April 01, 2017, 09:02:21 AM
Hello All,
Those of us using Firefox may have recently noticed a nag notice in the password part of the login suggesting the site is insecure.
This is new in Firefox 52 I believe.
The solution ( and I woud advise all users to switch to a secure connection anyway!) is to use this url

https://unstablesound.net/cdpforum

The "https" being the secure part.
As always, we seek to make this a secure and friendly place for discussions.

Happy CDP'ing

Announce / CDP 7.1 Update available
July 25, 2016, 01:52:59 PM
Dear all,
Thanks to the tireless and continuing efforts from Richard Dobson I am pleased to announce that version 7.1 is now available

For PC
http://unstablesound.net/downloads/cdpr71win32-07-16.zip

For Mac
http://unstablesound.net/downloads/cdpr71mac-07-16.zip

These are updates to all CDP soundfile programs (apart from the Windows GUI ones), with the all-important modification to sfsys to make the
environment variable CDP_SOUND_EXT optional, defaulting to wav. It also restores proper behaviour preserving sample type (24bit, floats etc) and
use of the -f prefix for output files, which had somehow got lost in the previous release. The change to the environment variable essentially
means programs can now be used directly without an installation/configuration step.

Just copy all executables to the existing _cdprogs folder.

I should add the usual caveat of making a backup first.

Happy sonic mangling!
Simon
