Mac installation / Re: CDPv8 and M1
« Last post by rwdobson on March 13, 2023, 06:52:25 PM »
Hi Natasha,

yes indeed, we are very close to being able to announce Release 8 along with full packages for Mac and PC. We have had several reports of success building CDP (including R8) from source. We have made a lot of code updates recently, mostly to eliminate compiler warnings, but catching a few minor bugs as well.  At present, the Github resource is still to be regarded technically as "Beta".

With regard to existing installers (v 7.1.1), again we have had good reports of successes there on M1. Being a download and not having an official Apple certificate, the "Gatekeeper" system prevents opening, but there is a standard solution which we have documented.

I have just posted the latest beta build of the CDP programs for Mac here:

http://www.rwdobson.com/MacR8-13-03-23.zip

It is compiled for Intel machines (unfortunately CDP does not have access to an M1-based Mac), but I am assured that the new M1 "rosetta" system works as expected and all the programs will run.  Documentation preparation is at an advanced stage, but not ready for release yet. We will publish it at the same time we announce the full CDPR8 release.

Mac installation / CDPv8 and M1
« Last post by Natasha on March 13, 2023, 08:12:55 AM »
I'm trying to install on an M1 and see the thread from 2022 stopped.

Is there an M1 beta around?

The 7.1 version says "failed installation", I guess because its 32bit. I see on GitHub there is version 8 source code. Has anyone tried compiling this for M1? Happy to test a beta rather than starting from scratch with Apple's new horrible Xcode!

I'm happy with just the individual programs without the graphical interfaces (old school CDP'er!).

I'm running the following:
Hardware - M1 Ultra
OS - Ventura 13.2.1

Announce / Soundshaper 6.1 supporting CDP8
« Last post by Robert Fraser on February 01, 2023, 04:40:42 PM »
Soundshaper 6.1 has been released. It installs the latest CDP PC exes, including beta-test versions of over 60 new CDP8 processes. These include Spectral, Multi-channel, Segmentation, Waveset and Synth functions, among others.

As well as being incorporated into the normal process menus, the new processes are also listed separately in a separate menu "Rel8", so that they can be easily identified for testing. The Quick Help on the Parameter Page describes each process, its modes and parameters. A very brief description is also available on the Main Page (also called Quick Help). A provisional version of the official CDP documentation is also well underway and will be available within the online docs soon.

Although the new CDP8 programs have been carefully tested, these are pre-release versions, subject to change, and correct operation cannot be guaranteed. Please do try them out and report anomalies! This is the quickest way to "settle" the software ahead of a full CDP Release 8.

I often use Process Pack. Is there any update to this in the offing?
Thanks

General Board / Re: GRAINMILL & BRKEDIT

They are both standalone programs - at least for Windows (not sure if there are MAC versions - I think not). There's also a new build of BrkEdit which should be released fairly soon.

Ah, thank you -- I see that both are indeed a part of SS.
SL does not appear to have either of these functions, so I was looking for a standalone release of GM and BE.

I can't speak for the MAC distribution, but the PC set definitely has both programs. Please visit the CDP downloads page to access these.

Comparing the most recent SL updates for PC and MAC (17.0.4 and 17.0.3 respectively): there appears to be two missing sound processes ("EXTEND" and "RHYTHM").

Is this by design, or have I missed something?  ???

I cannot seem to locate a download for the GrainMill or BRKEDIT software referenced in a CDP online tutorial (http://www.ensemble-software.net/CDPDocs/htmltuts/grntuts/ae/aebigone.htm).
Does it still exist?  ???

Thanks Robert, this is great news!
Is there some kind of a changelog available, to see what changed with regard to the last compiled version available on the same site?
best, P
