Version 8 will install in a new directory, in your case (probably) "C:\cdpr8 "
Meanwhile, I suggest continuing with your current setup.

PC Installation / CDP update question

I have CDP 7.1 installed which I use together with Soundshaper 5. Both were installed into "C:\cdpr7" directory while following instructions from documentation.
Now I see that Soundshaper 6 was released, and CDP 8 is upcoming in the future.
I'd like to ask what would be a best way to update my installation in a way that everything continues to work as intended. I can wait for full CDP 8 release, but I'm still curious what would be the most correct way to do updates.

General Board / TEXTURE SIMPLE - Compatibility with earlier versions (PC)
« Last post by Robert Fraser on June 19, 2023, 12:36:54 PM »The TEXTURE program currently supplied for PC systems is a pre-Release 8 version, which includes a new compulsory parameter ('omit') for the Texture Simple function.
Unfortunately this makes it incompatible with existing scripts in Textpack and Tutorial Workshop 2, as well as Soundshaper's Texture-Simple parameter page and presets.
It is expected that these settings will be updated for Release 8, but for now anyone wanting to explore Texture Simple on the PC needs a Release 7.1 version. You can download it at: https://www.soundshaper.net/downloads/texture71.zip . Unzip and copy texture.exe into your existing CDP programs folder (...\_cdp\_cdprogs). If you want to retain the Rel.8 version, rename it (e.g. to textureR8.exe) before copying the replacement file.
SoundLoom (PC): to see if your version of SoundLoom supports the Release 8 version, go to the parameter page for TEXTURE SIMPLE; if that has provision for the OMIT parameter, then you don't need the older Rel7.1 version, otherwise you do.
CDP MAC software and SoundLoom (MAC): not having a Mac, I don't know what the current situation is. However, you can check the Usage for Texture Simple to see if this includes the OMIT parameter and you can also look for it on the parameter page in SoundLoom (Mac).

General Board / Graphic Data entry doesnt seem to work

is anyone else experiencing troubles with Graphic Data entry?
the window opens and im able to draw on the frequency display but the lower half of the sound view (play, pause, stop, wave, spectrum etc... and most importantly output data) are not reacting and therefore im unabled to use this function.
any idea how to fix this?

I'm pretty sure that they are PC only, sadly as Grainmill is fun.
I have an old version if Win7 running on VMware that ~can~ run it, but to go there & fiddle around sucks some of the joy out.
I know I shouldn't really be saying this in the CDP forum, but other granular apps are available, especially given your very tight time constraints.
Meanwhile, there are many granular functions within the CDP system. MODIFY SAUSAGE & MODIFY BRASSAGE might suit you.
