General Board / Re: Cannot get blur to work in linux
« on: September 26, 2015, 01:23:33 PM »
Maybe the most "portable" way of dealing with the problem would be just to check that environment variable has been set with os.getenv("CDP_SOUND_EXT") and simply ask the user to set it before proceeding?

Thanks Lynx, that's a good suggestion and I think that's the best way to go for now.
We just have to sit tight and wait for the next release of CDP where the environment variable is already set.

Cheers

It strikes me odd that the Renoise CDP interface does not set this environment variable automatically, seeing that most users of the Renoise interface are probably otherwise unacquainted with using CDP, and therefore should not be expected to know to do this.

That is a very good suggestion, it would certainly reduce the number of installation queries over on the Renoise forum.

Problem right now is that I don't really know how to do this, I'm assuming you would need to send a command via the terminal which can be done via the lua script, but this would need to be different for each platform..

Does anyone here know how to do this?

Showcase / Re: Another go at a CDP frontend
« on: February 22, 2015, 09:55:12 PM »
The plan is to have builds of this that work both as standalone app and a Reaper plugin. The previous frontend also could be built as a standalone application but I didn't manage to make it work on OS-X, so I didn't publicly post builds of the standalone app. This new frontend now also has a working OS-X standalone application build since last night. (No Reaper plugin build exists yet, as it's kind of early days with this new software now. Adding the Reaper plugin mode will be relatively easy later, though.) I can't say a definitive date when this new frontend might be available for public testing, but perhaps during March isn't too inaccurate.

Nice! an OSx standalone would be great..
Bonus points to you if in CDP tradition it could be launched and supplied with sounds via the command line too ;)

Wow, looks amazing, this could well be the perfect kind of interface for CDP.
Is this Reaper only?

General Board / Re: Why the forum needs registration even for reading?

IMO the forum should be public to view but need a sign in to post messages. I get the point about spam but the forum requires a captcha to register anyway so I don't see how making it public to view is going to reduce security (other than making it a more visible target)

I think a lot users tend to read forums a few times before deciding to sign up so if you want to attract more users then make it easier to access.
Also making the forum public and 'indexable' by search engines will mean more people are pointed here with queries and discussion on CDP.

I don't know Linux but the easy part is going to be installing the Renoise tool.

The hard part (relatively speaking) will be to compile the sources and install CDP for Linux.. Maybe the mac install instructions will point you in the right direction, I think you will create an environment variable somewhere, for the PVOC processes to work.

I suggest you try and get it working with the terminal first, if that works then the Renoise tool will work also.

Good luck

Thanks, that worked :)

Good to hear that setting the environment won't be needed in future, that seemed to trip up a lot of new users.

Mac installation / PVOC Processes not working after OSx Yosemite update..
« on: November 15, 2014, 08:27:44 AM »
Wondering if anyone else has had this problem.. I had it working fine on Mavericks but since upgrading to Yosemite I can't get any of the PVOC processes to work.. Any clues? has there been an update at all?

Thanks
