Mac installation / Re: Batch files?

>I am into work flow, I have to enjoy the process.

I'm absolutely with you there &  I agree it takes a certain type of mentality &/or mind set to be at the command line expolring.
Not for every day or to meet a deadline
I did my time before the virtual CMD mast in the ole century when there was no other option to access these fabulous tools. But find myself using it sparingly these days.

If you have a PC take a look at Grainmill if you haven't already. It's a bit old now, but still fun for a granular hit.
Not real time, but these days pretty quick.

>Maybe a separate program could be made that is more of a see what happens app, where it combines processes in a random way under the hood. For fun.

That'd be great.
Unfortunately we (CDP) are drastically short of programming manpower & latest tech on every platform.
And we all have other things to do, so things move quite slowly...mostly.

Anyway,
Happy CDP'ing in 24 !

>Has anyone actually used Tabula Vigilans ? Where’s the music if they did?

There are a few pieces, I'm not the one to quote them here, but maybe you are missing the point.
Because nobody has noticed this unusual & l agree, a somewhat esoteric & difficult thing, is no reason to cast it aside when you are short.
Maybe that's the time to dig in !

Anyway,
You will be pleased to learn that your post has somewhat hastened a number of long-time work/discussions/tutorials on this very subject

Stick around, good things are coming for batch files soon!

Hi,
I'm not sure why you might want V7 as all the old stuff is still there in V8 I believe.
However, do you want the original install for V7 or the V711 update?

PC Installation / Re: CDP update question

Hi,
Version 8 will install in a new directory, in your case (probably)  "C:\cdpr8 "

Meanwhile, I suggest continuing with your current setup.

Soundshaper downloads & update info here -

Hi Otis,
I'm pretty sure  that they are PC only, sadly as Grainmill is fun.
I have an old version if Win7 running on VMware that ~can~ run it, but to go there & fiddle around sucks some of the joy out.

I know I shouldn't really be saying this in the CDP forum, but other granular apps are available, especially given your very tight time constraints.

Meanwhile, there are many granular functions within the CDP system. MODIFY SAUSAGE & MODIFY BRASSAGE might suit you.

Have a look through this :

Hi Otis,
Try running your new output file through SFPROPS & see what it reports.

Does the file play in any other appication?

I'm assuming your soundcard/device can handle & is configured for muti-channel outputs & you've tested all that.

+
Are you sure that you must use the CDP system for this?
You are in a very complicated area that  will suck time hugely just to run through permutations of  a single event.

There are quite a number of other sound diffusion apps around these days that you might use given your tight time schedule.

Hi Otis,
Is that a mono file ?
It should be for Mode 1
If you want Mode 2 you probably should look into setting the appropriate multi-channel  header for you useage.
Have a look here

http://www.ensemble-software.net/CDPDocs/html/cmcrefmn.htm#CHANNELX

SFPROPS will report details on files & then there are several utilities to setup headers etc.

Mac installation / Re: TEXTURE: where is the \txpack folder?
« on: April 25, 2023, 08:36:50 PM »
Hello, and welcome to the CDP Forum.

You will have to install the Texture pack,
Install instructions here
http://www.ensemble-software.net/CDPDocs/htmltuts/txpack/readtxtu.txt

& files here:
https://www.soundshaper.net/CDPDocs/downloads/Txpack.zip

I think you have come across  bug-ette, so to speak, thank you for spotting that.

You might find more useful things here :

I'll find out what happened to the Texture Workshop

Happy CDP'ing

Hi Seán,
Welcome to the forum & thank you for the complimentary remarks.

As a seasoned user I expect that you'll have set the environmental variables and so have a working, in every other way, system.
In which case this would seem to be a bug.
I'll alert Richard to this, thanks for the heads up.

Ok,thanks.
I presume that the columns version you have is 1.8

I can confirm that this would seem to be a bug.
I'll pass on your report.

I can't see any mention of the uppercase -D flag in the documentation for Columns in CDPR7.
Can  you tell us where you have seen this?

Perhaps more to the point is that there are tools in both Soundloom & Soundshaper that might work for you.
From the Columns html help -

COLUMNS is fully implemented in the Sound Loom GUI as the 'TABLE EDITOR'. In Soundshaper it can be found under the 'DATA > Data Editor' menu items (a file with columns in it, such as a breakpoint file, needs to be Opened before the menu items will be active). There is excellent documentation in Soundshaper on the Data Editor (which includes the functions in SNDINFO UNITS) in 'Help > Soundshaper Help > DATA EDITOR'.

try lowercase d

Does that do it?
